At hotel Playa Blanca in Cayo Largo del Sur, Cuba, when around 6 in the morning you wake up because of the jet lag, you walk to the small platform overlooking the hotel beach and, with a direct view of the sun rising on the ocean and the sound of the waves incessantly crashing on the shore, you watch the beach attendant starting to place the sunbeds for the early birds that, woken either by their homeland time zone or the local need to conquer the best spot on the shore,  begin descending to the narrow beach, eaten up by the hurricane of 2001.
